A Major Step for Green Transformation from Polat Makina

Representing Turkey across 45 countries worldwide through its locally manufactured advanced technology, Polat Makina has installed a solar power plant (SPP) with a capacity of 2,400 kWe (AC), backed by an investment of approximately $2 million. Built on the rooftop of Polat Makina’s new manufacturing facility, the solar energy system aims to generate 4,900,000 kWh of electricity annually. Furthermore, this strategic initiative is expected to cover 100% of the production plant's electricity consumption with self-generated green energy by 2027.

With an investment of $2 million, Polat Makina aims to generate 4.9 million kWh of electricity annually through a newly commissioned solar power plant (SPP)) with a capacity of 2,400 kWe (AC). Supported by the Investment Incentive Certificate from the Ministry of Industry and Technology, electricity generation began on October 18 at the solar installation built on the factory’s 28,500-square-meter rooftop. With the facility becoming operational, 100% of Polat Makina's annual electricity consumption—approximately 3 million kWh—will be met through solar energy. Following planned factory capacity expansions, it is targeted that 100% of the generated electricity will be fully utilized across production facilities by 2027.

Rıza Korkut Özdemir, General Manager of Polat Group Holding, emphasized that this investment—brought to life through the vision of Polat Group Holding Founder and Honorary Chairman İbrahim Polat, Board Chairman Olcay Polat, and other board members—marks a major step forward within their green transformation targets. Özdemir stated that out of respect for nature, they feel a responsibility to leave more sustainable production methods for future generations. Noting that the domestically manufactured solar panels used in the project were selected for high efficiency, Özdemir added that panel cleaning will be carried out autonomously by robotic systems.

Underlining that the visionary outlook of project architect İbrahim Polat motivates them to implement more sustainable production methods, Özdemir said: “We always set high goals and work with strong motivation to achieve them. We implemented our rooftop solar power plant in line with our sustainability vision. By extending sustainability beyond manufacturing processes to encompass self-generating the energy we require, we have taken another significant step toward our green transformation goals. We will resolutely continue our efforts to minimize our carbon footprint across all business processes.”
